The 2023 Darwin Special Children’s Christmas Party will be huge!
For more than 25 years, the Special Children’s Christmas Parties have been bringing happiness to Australian kids with special needs.
This includes kids with serious illnesses, intellectual or physical impairment, those who are victims of domestic violence or who are living in an underprivileged environment.
The parties have activities like face painting, interactive games, rides and petting zoos. There are live celebrity stage shows, delicious food, and, of course, a visit from the man himself, Santa! Kids even get to visit Santa’s toy room and are given their own toys.
The organisers behind the parties are in constant contact with government and charitable organisations that work with the children, such as the Cancer Society, Down Syndrome Association and the Department of Families, to name but a few. These institutions request invites to the parties on behalf of the children.
These events rely entirely on support from the community to run and with events taking place all through Australia each year, there is a deep need for funding. After sponsoring the 2022 Darwin event, The Lottery Office is once again thrilled to be doing their part to give these kids the Christmas they deserve with a $6,000 donation for the 2023 party. This will help to make sure that all the kids attending will have a day to remember.
The Darwin party takes place on Saturday, 9 December in Darwin and it looks to be another huge day for everyone involved.
The Special Children’s Christmas Party takes place in 12 locations Australia-wide to give more kids the chance to take part.
They’re always on the lookout for volunteers to help run the event, from setup, to pack up and the day itself. If you’d like to know more about what you can do to help make this a special day, visit the Special Children’s Christmas Party website.
