$10,500 Buys 100 Beds for NSW Homeless

In September 2018, The Lottery Office was launched in Australia.

At the same time, we set up our Charitable and Community Benefits Fund.

A percentage of the purchase price from every ticket sold is put into this fund, which we distribute to various charities and community benefit projects around Australia.

Having already donated to Transformations and Red Dust, we are pleased to announce our latest contribution has been to Backpacker Bed for Homeless Australia.

This amazing charity works in partnership with over 650 homeless agencies across Australia to reach homeless people with no other form of accommodation. Their ergonomic backpacks contain weatherproof beds and storage that are proven to improve:

• Health

• Dignity

• Quality of sleep

• Warmth

• Comfort

• Safety

Awarded a 2011 Australian Human rights award by the Australian Human Rights Commission, their message is, ‘There is no better gift – than dignity’. To date they have distributed over 30,000 beds, providing over 3 Million nights of dignified sleep.

Our donation of $10,500 will purchase 100 backpack beds for those in need in New South Wales just in time for the colder months.

Thank you to all our NSW customers who have helped to contribute to such a worthy cause. The homeless crisis in Australia is getting desperate as,

‘Tonight up to 80% of families and 60% of individuals
will be turned away from emergency shelters’

Donations like this are critical to prevent Australians suffering and we will continue to seek out charities, like this, that are making such a positive impact.
